WOW!!! Just Buy It NOW if you can find it!!!, March 2, 2010
By C. Lusby “Global Citizen” (Atlanta, GA) – See all my reviews
I bought this tv a couple of weeks ago on QVC for $849 and paid an additional $65 for shipping. QVC was a great option as it allowed me to pay for the set over 5 months with no interest. It was so popular that it sold out during its first airing and hasn’t been featured again. I’ve also noticed that most stores do not have this tv in stock. **Beware of other Vizios with similar model numbers. Vizio has another version (older model) of this tv without the built in wifi and apps that sells for $50 to $100 less. Its still a great tv but for such a small difference in price you should get the better tv.***
This tv is impressive. For one, it has a great picture out of the box. Second, the apps are amazing. Pandora, Facebook, Flickr, Weather, Netflix, etc. They are great. I knew I’d use Netflix and Pandora but I’m loving all of them. I doubt I’ll update my FB status while in front of the tv but its nice to view photos on the big screen from a friend’s profile. Amazon Video on Demand and Vudo work great and came with free rentals.
The set up was easy. The stand came attached to the tv so it was just a matter of pulling it out the box and plugging it in. The tv walks you through the necessary connections, remote set up, and connecting to the wireless network. The built in wifi is a must have feature for anyone looking for a tv with internet access as most people don’t have a cable modem in the same room as their tv.
The remote works very well with my comcast cable box. With other tvs I’ve had to use both remotes because there were issues controlling volume or power but not with this remote. It fully operates the cable box. Its also a bluetooth remote so it will control the tv when you aren’t pointing it at the tv. The slider function is nice too. When using the apps, you can type with the slider keyboard instead of picking letter by letter with an on screen keyboard. This is a great feature and saves a lot of time. Its a bit wider than your average slider phone so it takes some getting used to but its better than a wireless keyboard.
Also, the tv has 4 HDMI inputs so you can have dedicated inputs for your dvd player, gaming system, laptop, etc. There are also 3 USB inputs but they aren’t yet functional. I’ve been told that Vizio will eventually release a firmware update so that these can be used.
I wish this tv were offered in LED like the 47″ and 55″ versions but that’s just because I want the lastest and greatest. There is nothing wrong with this tv.
One downside that I’ve identified is that the volume adjuster for loud commercials doesn’t really get the job done. I find myself reaching for the remote and muting commercials because they are still too loud. Another oddity is that the tv has a strong plastic smell out of the box. The smell is overpowering and is so strong I question whether its safe and not toxic. I’ve actually got a service appointment with Vizio next week about this. The tv works fine and the smell has lessened some but its still there. I initially thought it was the packaging but its clear that its part of the tv as it gets worse when the tv has been on for long periods of time.
Overall, I highly recommend this tv. I’m even considering one of the larger versions for my living room and moving this one to my bedroom.
LCD Or Plasma, Which One?
We always get asked the question “what television should I buy an LCD or plasma?” There are many things that you need to take into consideration when making your choice and we hope that this article will make it easier for you to decide.
At a first glance LVD TV’s and plasmas look the same. They are nice, slim and stylish. They both have flat screen panels and both offer wide screen technology. There are however a few points that you will need to consider and a few Key differences between the two.
Lets have a look at some of the advantages of LCD TV’s and plasma TV’s and why they have taken over traditional TV sets.
LCD TV’s and plasma TV’s look good-The style and design of these look great, whether turned on or off. They are easily wall mounted or fitted snug against the side of your living room.-this may not be the biggest concern however it is defiantly worth noting
Compact design- The days of using up a whole table for a crt monitor are now over. With the introduction of LCD monitors it has cleaned up offices and desk spaces at home.
Clear viewing- One of the key differences from a LCD/plasma and crt (normal TV) is the pixels that are available. LCD TV’s and plasmas have more pixles per a square inch compared to a normal crt. With more pixles you can enjoy the magical experience of crystal clear viewing
The differences between a LCD and plasma
LCD
LCD stands for liquid crystal display. Its if formed of hundreds of thousands of small LCD pixels that sit behind the TV screen. These pixels are charged through a fluorescent white backlight that sits behind the pixels. The light charges the pixels by sending an electric current and determines what colour should be shown, and the millions of tiny light variations make up the image that you see on your TV.
Plasma
Plasma screens are different to LCD technology. Plasma screens use the technology of xenon and neon gas which fills thousands of tiny chambers. Plasma screens are actually made up of 2 screens of glass and the xenon and neon gas is placed between both of the screens. Behind the tiny chambers that are filled by the gas there are a series of red, blue and green phosphors. When electricity hits the plasma chambers, they emit invisible UV light, which then hits one of the coloured phosphors. This creates a visible image on the screen.
LCD or Plasma?
So now you know the difference in technology used. Which one is right for you?
Plasma TV’s can reach an incredible 71 inches in screen size where as LCD TV’s reach about 46 inches.
Plasma TV’s are heavier then LCD TVs and LCD TVs come slightly thinner
LCD usually has a slightly clearer picture in smaller models and a higher resolution
LCD TV’s usually have a longer lifespan then a plasma as its not operated by gas which will need refilling
LCD TV’s use less energy then plasma TV’s
The decision is yours. If you are after a larger screen then Plasma is the one for you. If you can live with a screen size of up to 46 inches then I would personally recommend the LCD. Not only will you get a clearer picture/thinner design but you will also help the environment with energy saving equipment.
A Quick Look at the Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder
The digital camcorder has enjoyed a quite a long and productive run of success since they were first introduced into the market. Since then, the competition has raged hot and heavy with many companies scrambling for a share of the consumer’s money. It seems that every few months a new model is introduced into the market, each one of them boasting a whole new set of features that claim to blow the competition away.
The Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder is a reasonably priced digital video camera that is one of the latest contenders in this fiercely contested arena and as reviews will clearly show, it has the features and capabilities to stand head and shoulders above all of its competitors in the same price range.
Speaking about price range, the Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder is available at an amazingly low price. So low in fact that this is a price range that you would expect to be normally reserved for camcorder accessories…not an entire, fully functioning camcorder! But the price that you will see the Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder listed at is indeed its actual price and you will find that even for such a modest sum, this handy and convenient camcorder can deliver the goods.
Ok it seems that we let the cat out of the bag there somewhat by mentioning the words “handy” and “convenient”, for after you get over the initial pleasant shock of its amazingly low price, the feature of the Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder that will most likely grab your attention is its size. It is so small in fact that its appearance merely offers a hint of all the capabilities that lie underneath its sleek, silver exterior.
The Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder is actually billed as the first hand held multi-functional Media Player / Video Recorder. It is one of the few devices on the market that allow you to directly interface with your other audio and video devices, such as your TV, VCR or DVD player. What this means of course is that you are able to record all of your favorite TV shows, Movies, video clips, pictures, audio recordings onto the camcorder for later playback either on its handy and suitably large built in 2.4″ TFT color LCD or any other viewer of your choice…even your wide screen TV! This convenience is a welcome one on the home video front indeed and greatly increases the range of uses for the Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder.
The capabilities of the Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder do not end there however; this is no one trick pony after all! The MVPR also performs admirably as an MPEG-4 DV Camcorder that is capable of recording Super VHS quality video at a very respectable 640 x 480 VGA resolution at an amazing 30 frames per second! As if all this was not enough, the Aiptek MPVR Digital Camcorder is also able to function as a 3 Mega Pixel Digital Camera with 6 Mega Pixel enhancement, Voice Recorder, and SD Card Reader / Removable Hard Disk!
LED TV Bracket – Understanding LED TVs
The television market continually changes. This year has brought the release of the first 3D televisions on sale. This is shortly after the release of LED technology for televisions. Before discussing the available LED TV bracket and LED TV wall bracket choices one must first understand the LED television. What is it and what makes it different from your typical LCD television?
LED is a type of light which has been around for several years. The light bulb has a longer life than your typical light. The first thing we saw light emitting diodes with was Christmas lights. Samsung, Panasonic, Philips, Toshiba, LG, ProScan, and Vizio have all decided to offer LED TVs. The technology has replaced the traditional fluorescent light found in LCD televisions. LEDs have two forms: a Dynamic RGB and a White Edge LED. The RGB method provides truer colours like black, white and primary colours. It has a higher dynamic and costs less. The Edge LEDs have a diffused light across the entire screen sharpening the backlight, but also causing a dimming of the picture.
As you might have guessed by now the LED technology is nothing new. The use in televisions was new and it rose in popularity rather quickly. The reason they became so popular was because most understood the LED light would last longer than fluorescent light for the backlighting. They figured it was better technology and therefore worthy of spending a little more. The downside in the popularity of LCD televisions is that the off angle viewing is poor. Even offering LED with the LCD technology has not changed this. However, LCD is still better than the plasma design because it is based off of light rather than a plasma creation which has a half life.
At the moment the LED technology has not quite reached its potential, but for those who follow the electronic industry this has not made them less popular. In 2010 more models have been released in small screen sizes. LG has over four models you can purchase as do many of the aforementioned producers of LED technology.
Now that you have an understanding of what LED televisions are and that they are being sought by the public you can look at the LED TV bracket and LED TV wall bracket available for these televisions. As a flat panel screen this TV can be tipped over and damaged if it is not correctly mounted to a wall with the TV bracket.
LED TVs are not unlike the regular LCD with fluorescent light. You can use similar TV brackets with the LED television. However, it is best to shop for an LED TV bracket or LED TV wall bracket. The reason for this is that you have the right size. You always want to have the proper bracket no matter the television you own. Therefore, you can look at the two choices you have. You have the TV bracket which is standard in how it works. It will mount your television safely to the wall or TV stand you have chosen. It will not have a lot of manoeuvrability when it comes to the tilt or swivel. It is mostly a steady wall mount for direct angles.
The second choice you have is the ultra slim bracket. The ultra slim bracket comes in two ranges: 26 to 32 inches and 37 to 65 inches. They were created for this range because up until 2010 small sized LED TVs were not being manufactured. Now you have some companies offering below 30 inches.
The ultra slim bracket is not like your typical LCD television bracket. It offers four screws for the smaller size screens, but it is in a horizontal position rather than a square. There are two silver brackets for screws and then two black brackets. You can manipulate the size a little bit on the ultra slim bracket. It is not a huge metal bracket, which makes it lighter and to some degree easier to install.
For those who require an LED TV bracket the ultra slim can be the most attractive. It will be a little more than the regular LED TV bracket which is designed like most LCD brackets. The good attribute of LED TV bracket options like the ultra slim is that it can make the TV almost flush with the wall like a picture frame.
Which Television Technology Will Fit Your Space Best?
LCD and Plasma technology may be both flat screen TVs that has great image quality, but they still have many differences to take note of. Both are better that Cathode Ray Tube TVs or CRT. Apart from their size difference, image quality is better with LCD or Plasma TV. These two surely has greater technologies than the traditional TVs we were used to. Since both technologies make use of flat screens, viewing is more pleasurable because they have clearer and lifelike images.
CRT televisions are more harmful to our health. They emit more radiation than the amount that Plasmas and LCDs emit. High definition format also comes with new technology. Plasma TVs and LCD TVs are both HD ready and could display both high definition and standard formats. They could also recognize different TV signal formats no matter where you are in the world.
Plasma and LCD televisions are more expensive compared to the traditional Cathode Ray Tube TVs. However, their prices are now getting more affordable, some manufacturers even offer cut deals that could not cause too much damage on your wallet. Think about the entertainment these two technologies could give you, and then you will see that buying one is really not a bad choice.
Apart from all their similarities their differences will surely define which technology is better. LCD screens were made to be so compact that they did not have larger sizes before. But today, they are slowly following the large sized Plasma TVs. Plasma TVs have better contrast settings than the LCD TVs, the Plasmas produce better quality of images. However, burn-in is one problem with the plasma TVs, the Liquid Crystal Display do not experience this. That is an advantage over the Plasmas. Another advantage of the LCDs is that they consume lesser power this makes LCD TVs perfect for small families and budget conscious people. Because of the power consumption, LCDs have longer lifespan than the Plasmas. Compare the 60,000 hours of LCD TVs to the 20,000-40,000 hours of Plasma TVs. That’s a lot of viewing hours. Now, the decision is yours to make.
Vizio Reviews
If you are looking for what brand of TV you would like to buy, reviews of products can help you make that decision. It is really useful to read a review on a product that someone else has already owned and tried. Prior to purchasing my Vizio TV I read Vizio reviews online in order to help me make my decision.
Some Vizio reviews were posted on retail sites and showed comparisons of different products so I was able to determine what kind of value I would get for my money when buying a Vizio TV. I was able to find out that these televisions have great quality picture which is important because I wanted to use it to enjoy movies on my new TV. My partner enjoys playing a lot of video games and I was able to determine from gaming sites that this TV would be great for that as well. Again I found the information to be excellent and it told me what I needed to know.
In the end, I highly recommend using reviews as a way to find out more about purchasing a Vizio TV. Simply type “Vizio reviews” into any search engine and you will be able to go through the results. Before you buy any TV take an hour or two online to find out what real people are saying about it. You will be glad you did go online to read some excellent reviews.
Online reviews of products are a great way to make a decision on whether or not you will purchase a specific product. Reading what other people have to say about the product is useful in getting an honest opinion that wasn’t written by the company that sells it. Before I bought a Vizio TV I spent a lot of time reading Vizio reviews from people who already owned one.

Types of TV Wall Mounting Options That You Can Use For Your Slim TV
Have you just bought yourself a new slim TV for your den? Then you need to have a place where you can set your television up. Perhaps the best thing that you can do for your slim TV is to have it mounted on the wall.
Television partition set ups are very important if you want to save your precious floor space for other more important items.
Before you decide to have a TV wall mounting, it is important that you have it installed by a professional electricians or installers for the proper placement of the other tube outputs. On the other hand, to choose the right TV wall mounting, you need to have basic knowledge about them. Here is the list of the types of television partition set ups that you can use.
Low Profile Mount
This fixture is the cheapest and easiest to install among the other types of mounts. Although this is considered as the cheapest, this particular fixture does not offer you other options. In fact, once you installed it, you cannot move the tube on a particular orientation that you want.
Tilting Mount
This particular mount can be installed easily as with the low profile mount. The only difference between them is that you can tilt this particular mount so that you can adjust your viewing angle. This is possible since it has a pivot that allows the mount to tilt from side to side.
Full-Motion Mount
This mount is the most expensive among the three types of mounts, due to the fact that it is very complicated to install. This type of mount has an arm that allows you to move the mount in full motion. This means that you can move it vertically or horizontally in any angle. This provides convenience on the user since it provides a wide range of angle. Vizio wall mounts is one good example of TV wall mounting that offers full motion.
Two Impressive Additions to the 2010 E-Reader Lineup – Barnes & Noble’s Nook and Intel’s Reader
Cuddling up with the Nook
In basic substantive ways the Nook operates like other e-readers already on the market, such as the Kindle, its successor, the Kindle 2, and Kindle DX; and Sony’s Touch Edition, Daily Edition, and Pocket Edition Readers. They all use the grayscale E Ink display and have similar fundamental capabilities, although each does have its own particular bells and whistles. What sets the Nook apart is the first-on-the-market full-color e-reader touch screen, which eliminates the need for a keyboard and comprises one-third of its unique front side, which also includes a display screen surrounded by a frame with a user-friendly backward and forward button on each side. The Nook runs Google’s Android OS; and it is the first e-reader to offer an electronic loan option called LendMe, which allows one Nook user to borrow parts of another user’s content for up to two weeks.
Early reviewers of the Nook reported being disappointed in the device’s sluggishness and lack of an intuitive user interface, but they expect any kinks in the software and/or hardware to eventually be worked out, making the Nook a gadget lover’s favorite toy.
Nook sales will receive a powerful boost from the e-reader’s availability to customers visiting any of the almost-800 bricks-and-mortar Barnes & Noble bookstores in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, the new device allows users to download the half-million titles in the Google Books library. This is typical for advanced ebook readers and according to the article “Is the Future of Books in Mobile EBook Reading”, apart from the range of books offered by Amazon for its Kindle, the Sony Reader also allows you access to a large library of books in the public domain that are therefore free to download. The Nook sells for $259.
The Reader: point, shoot, and listen
The e-reader developed by Intel is in a class by itself. Simply called the “Reader,” the handheld device is the result of the collaboration of a long-time dyslexic – and frustrated – Intel employee, Intel’s Health division, and health care industry experts. Like its name, the Reader’s concept is also simple: It photographs labels, recipes, printed instructions, signs, flip chart pages, menus, memos, receipts and other smaller print sources, converts the printed text to digital text, then instantly converts the digital text to speech playback for reading-disabled or blind users and also to an over-sized digital display for low-vision users. The user can wear a headset in public places to avoid feeling conspicuous.
The Reader, in turn, has spawned Intel’s Portable Capture Station to enable Reader users to store larger amounts of texts such as chapters from a book or entire books, newspapers, periodicals and lengthy documents. The Portable Capture Station fits into what resembles a small suitcase, and can be set up on a counter or table, and, with the Reader locked into place, hold newspaper and magazine pages and other large documents which the Reader’s camera can then photograph.
Although the Reader’s price tag of about $1,500 is prohibitive to most individuals, the federal government makes funds available to the states so they can offer low-cost loans to those with disabilities for the purchase of assistive technologies. In addition, the No Child Left Behind Act provides grants and loans to schools so they can purchase assistive technologies for their students who require them for scholastic achievement. Intel works with several associations including the Council for Exceptional Children, the National Center for Learning Disabilities and the National Federation of the Blind to make the Reader available where it is needed, and the Reader has been endorsed by the International Dyslexia Association as an important teaching tool.
The Reader is available through a limited number of retailers, which are listed on Intel’s corporate website and include CTL, Don Johnston Incorporated, GTSI, Howard Technology Solutions and HumanWare.

Vizio 32" LCD TV VO32L – Pros and Cons
The Vizio 32″ LCD TV VO32L is a HDTV model in the Vizio Evolution Series. It is a TV that is priced in the mid range. So is it worth the asking price?
Before I get into the pros and cons of the VO32L, let’s take a quick look at the main specifications:
1366 X 768 resolution
16:9 ratio wide screen ratio
HDTV and standard TV tuner combination
22 year/50,000 hours lamp life
Pros
The connectivity on this TV is fantastic. I also really liked the matte finish. Don’t be fooled by the lack of 1080p resolution, or “true HD”. You don’t need it at this resolution; in fact it would be nothing more than a waste so it’s good that Vizio have kept costs down with the 1366 x 768 resolution.
You will also find more picture modes on this TV compared with most others in its class: 9 in total. Some work well whilst others don’t make a huge difference.
Cons
Some reviewers have been very happy with black levels whilst others said that the blacks could be deeper. My opinion is somewhere in the middle: the blacks are not perfect (one would not expect them to be in a mid range TV) but they certainly could be a lot worse. The remote layout could also do with some fine tuning to make it a little more user friendly.
Consumer Opinion
There are countless positive reviews and comment about the Vizio 32″ LCD TV VO32L including one Amazon reviewer stating that “the picture is amazing” and another remarking that “I love this High Def TV. I can’t imagine one with a better picture.”
The VO32L is a great TV for the price. If you can overlook the minor issue of lack of aspect ratio control on HD sources and the less than ideal remote layout you will find that it is true value for money.
